Regulator Wheat Exports Australia Tuesday (August 26, 2008) named the first five companies accredited to export bulk wheat under the government's new arrangements for the trade.
 

The companies are Cargill Australia Ltd., Elders Toepfer Grain Pty Ltd., Goodman Fielder Consumer Foods Pty Ltd., Grain Pool Pty Ltd. and OzEpulse Pty Ltd.

The regulator appreciates the need for exporters, growers and the industry to know as soon as possible who has been accredited and has been focused on assessing the applications in a rigorous and timely manner since the new arrangements were introduced July 1, acting Chief Executive Peter Woods said in a statement.

"WEA is continuing to assess other applications," he said.

Elders is a unit of Australia-listed Futuris Corp, Goodman Fielder Consumer Foods is a unit of Goodman Fielder Ltd. (GFF.AU) and Grain Pool is unit of unlisted Cooperative Bulk Handling Ltd. Cargill Australia is a unit of the global soft commodities trading concern Cargill Inc.
