US corn, soy conditions worsen
Compared with 60% the previous week and 70% a year ago at this time, 57% of the US corn crop was in good or excellent condition in the week ended August 21, according to USDA.
In its weekly Crop Progress report, USDA rated 17% of the corn crop in poor or very poor condition, compared to 15% the previous week and 10% at this time last year.
Poorest corn condition ratings came from Texas (68% poor or very poor), North Carolina (48%), Kansas (41%) and Missouri (39%).
USDA reported 59% of the US soy crop was in good or excellent condition in the week ended August 21 compared to 61% the previous week and 64% a year ago at this time.
USDA rated 14% of the soy crop in poor or very poor condition, compared to 13% the previous week and 13% at this time last year.
Pasture conditions remained largely unchanged with 39% of US pastures in poor or very poor condition and 37% rated in good to excellent condition.
