US meat stocks 10% above on-year

The total frozen poultry supplies of the US for July 31 were 2% higher from the previous month and 10% more than the previous year, according to USDA's monthly Cold Storage report.

Total stocks of chicken were up 1% from the previous month and up 14% from last year. Total pounds of turkey in freezers were up 3% from last month and up 5% from July 31, 2010.

Total red meat supplies in freezers were down 6% from the previous month but up 11% from last year.

Total pounds of beef in freezers were down 3% from the previous month but up 8% from last year.

Frozen pork supplies were down 8% from the previous month but up 16% from last year. Stocks of pork bellies were down 39% from last month but up 38% from last year.
