China's July soy imports rise 24% on-month
China imported 5.35 million tonnes of soy in July, up 24% on-month and 8% higher from a year earlier, the General Administration of Customs reported Monday (Aug 22).
Confirming data released earlier this month, customs said total imports in the first seven months fell 5.5% to 29.06 million tonnes.
China imported 259,364 tonnes of soyoil in July, a jump of 72% over the same period of last year, according to custom data.
In the first seven months, the country's soyoil imports totalled 641,603 tonnes, down 58% on-year.
China is the world's largest importer of soy and it gets most of its supplies from the US, Brazil and Argentina, the world's leading soy producers.
