Monsanto Indonesia to boost 2012 corn seed market share

Monsanto Indonesia will increase its share of the corn seed market in Indonesia from around 15% at present to 20% by 2012.

Monsanto's spokesman Herry Kristanto said the company has a factory in Mojokerto with production averaging 13,000 tonnes of hybrid corn seeds a year.

The production could be increased to full capacity at 37,000 tonnes depending on requirement, Herry said.

He said the hybrid corn seed produced by the company could yield up to eight tonnes of corn per hectare.
