Maple Leaf is expanding its recall of beef products manufactured at its Bartor Road, Toronto facility due to concerns that the products may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
Sure Slice Roast Beef and Corned Beef products were recalled on Sunday (August 17, 2008).
A small number of the products produced at the Toronto facility have tested positive to contain low levels of listeria but as a precautionary measure, Maple Lead is recalling all products produced on the two manufacturing lines involved from June 2, 2008 onwards.
Maple Leaf is also temporarily closing the Toronto facility to fully reassess the plant's food safety procedures, including supplementary sanitation of equipment and validation of testing protocols.
