Swedish grain crop seen to rise 7% on-year
Sweden's 2011 grain yield is forecast to total slightly more than five million tonnes, according to a forecast from the Swedish Board of Agriculture, Jordbruksverket.
This is up one fifth on the 2010 harvest and is largely a result of larger harvests per hectare and that farmers have grown more grain. Harvest is expected to be 7% better than an average for the past five years and the oil-seed crop harvest is expected to be 10% higher.
The Board says its forecast has assumed normal weather for the remainder of the year and does not consider the quality of harvested crops.
