Maple Leaf recalls beef products on listeria concerns

Maple Leaf is recalling its roast and corned beef due to possible contamination of listeria monocytogenes.


Together with Maple Leaf, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a warning not to serve or consume the company's Sure Slice brand Roast Beef and Corned Beef in 1 kg packages.


The affected Roast Beef has the product code "21333" and a Best Before date of August 9, while the Corned Beef's product code is "21444" and has a Best Before date of August 23.


The products are distributed mainly to foodservice institutions such as restaurants, hospitals and nursing homes in Canada.


There is no illness associated with the products and the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
