US rejects JBS' beef
JBS S/A, the world's biggest beef producer, saw its processed beef to the US denied due to excessive residues of vermifuge.
The Brazilian Agriculture Ministry has called for Wednesday (Aug 17) a meeting with beef industry representatives after being notified of the rejection.
JBS faced a similar problem last year, when beef imported from one of its Brazilian facilities was rejected by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), leading to a seven-month ban on Brazilian beef exports to the US.
Since then, Brazil has adopted new standards for vermifuge levels in beef exports.
