Estonian H1 grain price rises twofold
The amount of grain purchased in Estonia in H1 of 2011 was almost the same against the same period of the previous year, but the price paid for the grain more than doubled, stated the Statistical Office.
In all 90,409 tonnes of grain was bought. The average purchase price of the grain was EUR204 (US$294.54) per tonne compared with EUR97 (US$140.05) the years ago.
The amount of barley bought in the first half of the year was 55,992 tonnes, 50% more than the year before. The average purchase price of barley grew 2.1-fold and stood at EUR192 (US$277.21) per tonne in the first half of the year.
The amount of wheat purchase contracted 26% to 29,709 tonnes, but its price climbed 2.1-fold to EUR232 (US$334.96) per tonne.
The amount of rapeseed purchased grew 7% on-year in the first half of the year to 9,824 tonnes and the purchase price grew 55% to EUR484 (US$698.8) per tonne.
