Berg+Schmidt acquires Juchem's fat powder business
Berg+Schmidt, a German feed ingredients firm, is strengthening its global market position in the fat powders field for animal nutrition with the takeover of Juchem Gruppe's whole fat powder business.
In BergaFat, Berg+Schmidt already has a well-known rumen bypass fat powder in its portfolio that is used successfully around the world. With the takeover the Hamburg-based company intends to further expand its business activities in markets outside Germany.
The rumen bypass fat powder "Energie 100" was part of the product portfolio of Franz Juchem GmbH and is now transferred under the same brand name to Berg+Schmidt in Hamburg.
For many years Berg+Schmidt has produced rumen-stable fat powders at its own plants in Malaysia, and it is one of the world's pioneers in the development of lecithinized fat powder qualities without a carrier for monogastric animals as well as cattle.
Managing Director Andreas Reith is convinced that "this is an important step that will strengthen our core business in fat powders. The customers of our two companies complement each other extremely well. We shall go on extending our competence in this field".
The owner-managed company Berg+Schmidt has been operating in the field of feed fats and other feed ingredients for over 50 years. It offers the feed industry around the world vital vegetable substances for profitable and healthy animal nutrition. Besides fat powders the company produces de-oiled lecithin as an aid to metabolism and conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs) to optimize the metabolism of fat.
Berg+Schmidt is a member of the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe, an independent, dynamic group of companies operating internationally in the field of ingredients for food and feed.
