Kazakhstan prepares for 2011 grain harvest
Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture is actively preparing for the 2011 grain harvesting campaign.
In the current year, agrarians provided the spring sowing works throughout the areas of 18.672 million ha. At the same time, grain sowings occupied the areas of 16.199 million ha, including wheat-13.822 million ha.
To date, agrarians of Almaty, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan and South Kazakhstan oblasts began harvesting grains.
As of August 12, 2011, agricultural producers harvested grains throughout 739,700 ha, or 29.4% of the general sowing areas of the mentioned oblasts, and produced 1.155 million tonnes of grains with the average yield of 15.6 c/ha.
