Poultry products producers Plukon, Stolle to merge

Dutch fresh and frozen poultry products supplier Plukon Royale unveiled plans to merge with German sector player Stolle.

The merged company will process 6.5 million roast chickens a year, generating revenues of EUR1.1 billion (US$ 1.6 billion) with 4,000 employees.

Plukon Royale is already market leader in the Netherlands and Belgium in pre-packed fresh and frozen poultry products for supermarket chains and the horeca sector. The company generates EUR740m in annual revenues with 2,700 employees.

Stolle has four facilities in Germany, with 1,500 employees and EUR370 million ($US 533,872,785) in sales.

According to a spokesman for Plukon, the tie-up creates a perfect basis for further international expansion.
