India launches local vaccine for lumpy skin disease

India's Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, launched indigenous vaccine Lumpi-ProVac last week to protect livestock from lumpy skin disease.

The vaccine was developed by the National Equine Research Center, Hisar (Haryana) in collaboration with the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izzatnagar (Bareilly).

Tomar has directed officials to provide Lumpi-ProVac in large numbers at the earliest time possible to cattle producers.
