Brazil's Bioclean Energy to invest BRL500 million in soy, cotton units

Brazilian company Bioclean Energy will invest almost 500 million Brazilian reals ($307 million) in new soy and cotton seed crushing units, newspaper Valor Economico reported Tuesday (August 12).

Bioclean, part of Endurance Capital Partners, will put BRL200 million in a soy and cotton seed crushing unit in the northeastern state of Bahia. The unit will have a daily processing capacity of 2,000 metric tonnes of soy and 2,000 tonnes of cotton seed. The new unit should start operations in 2009-10.

Another BRL300 million will go for a soy and cotton seed processing unit in the center-west Mato Grosso state. The company will start building the unit next year.

Brazil is the world's second largest soy producer after the US.
