Russian 2010 poultry output rises by 15.5%
Russia's 2010 total poultry meat output amounted to 2.771 million tonnes of liveweight, a surpassing 2009's level by 15.5%.
From the study it emerged that Russians are willing to pay an average cost of 5-7% more for domestic poultry products, than for the imported production. Therefore, in the Russian poultry market a stable preference for domestic products exists.
The egg industry in Russia over the past two years also demonstrates a high level of development, maintaining an average annual growth rate about 3-4%. In 2010 the market volume increased by 4.6% compared with 2009 and has been totally amounted to 43.1 billion pieces.
Most Russian eggs have been produced in the Volga Federal District. In 2010 its output equalled 10.3 billion pieces. Central Federal District is in second place with a capacity of 8.2 billion pieces. The third in the list is South Federal District with 5.8 billion eggs of total output.
