Vantage Foods Canada on Friday (Aug 5) announced plans to set up a new case-ready plant in Belleville, Ontario, to process retail-ready fresh meats for supermarkets in Eastern Canada.
Renovations to a building on a 13-acre property that Vantage has bought in Belleville are underway, and the plant is scheduled to begin operations in November.
"Belleville provides an excellent food distribution point for supply within Ontario and cost-effective access to markets in Québec and the Maritimes," said Gary Haley, president and CEO Vantage Foods.
Vantage Foods currently operates two production facilities in Western Canada. The company also has a processing facility in North Carolina that supplies the Lowes and Martin's retail banners.
