Malaysia's subsidies for poultry farmers to cease by end-August
Malaysia plans to end subsidies for chicken and egg farmers on August 31, though it will retain an export ban on poultry until supplies stabilise, the country's Agriculture and Food Industries Minister, Ronald Kiandee, told the Malaysian parliament on August 4.
Malaysia, which supplies live chickens mainly to neighbouring Singapore and Thailand, halted exports in June.
The country now has a slight oversupply of chicken following the export ban, Kiandee said recently.
