Australian pork producers, outspent by animal activists, looking to fight back
Australia's pork industry is now looking for ways to fight back a radio advertising campaign against intensive pig farming launched by Animals Australia.
The animal rights group is running advertisements on commercial radio in capital cities in the country for four weeks lambasting pig farming.
The group is believed to have obtained its funding from public donations.
The pork industry claims it does not have the financial means to fight back and is looking for alternative measures, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
According to Andrew Spencer, from Australian Pork Limited, the industry will have to come up with a cheaper way to fight back.
Spencer said the industry is exploring traditional methods of press releases and internet websites that cost less than the activists' campaign.
