Schaumann develops new feed acid

Schaumann has developed a new feed acid combination which aims to permanently minimise Salmonella by means of the short-chain acids it contains and suppress E. coli bacteria.

Schaumacid S is a targeted enhancement of Schaumann's tried and tested range of feed acids. The combination of short- and medium-chain acids has a broad spectrum of activity against Salmonella and other gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

The medium-chain acids in the product inhibit the development of streptococci, staphylococci and clostridia. Tests have confirmed that it effectively reduces the Salmonella invasion rate in the intestinal tract. The acids in the product also reduce the pH value in the gastrointestinal tract and promote the development of positive intestinal flora, resulting in higher feed intake and much better growth.

With this newly developed combination of acids, Schaumann offers greater safety and better performance in pig production. In light of the latest Salmonella Regulation, targeted Salmonella reduction is an urgent necessity. Failure to observe the specified limits can result in reduced marketability of the pigs produced.
