Kazakhstan to lessen poultry imports by 2016

Kazakhstan is taking actions to support the poultry sector so that poultry imports can be reduced in five years' time, according to the Director of the Department of Agriculture Livestock Rabiga Tokseitova.

As per reported by Interfax Europe, government support for the poultry industry can be seen by the formation of a foundation of coarse grains at 300,000 tonnes annually. There are also cheaper interest rates on bank loans to purchase equipment and technology for poultry and provide working capital.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the number of birds in Kazakhstan in 2010 amounted to 32.78 million.
