Alltech commits to further growth in India
Asia Pacific is of particular importance to Alltech, being the biggest contributor to sales at the company, according to president and chairman, Dr. Mark Lyons. In particular, Alltech India has grown rapidly since it was established in 2001, with a current annual growth of 20%.
Most recently, eFeedLink heard of plans to open a new factory in India in the third quarter.
According to Mr. Aman Sayed, Managing Director - India, Regional Director - South Asia at Alltech India, the plan is "going well" and inauguration of the factory is expected to be in October. The factory is located in western India in Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra, a region which has historically been a wholesale agricultural produce trading hub.
Bioplex®, a range of organic trace minerals, and Optigen®, a non-protein nitrogen (NPN) source for ruminants, would be produced at the new factory. In particular, Bioplex is a significant contributor to Asia Pacific sales for Alltech.
"In October 2018 we expect to start production. The old factory reached full operational capacity in just over four years; we plan to repeat the same in this case," reveals Mr. Sayed of production plans for the new factory.
He adds that besides India, output from the new factory would also cater for neighbouring counties including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, and may even go farther to other Asian countries.
