Merial launches new liquid Bluetongue vaccine

Animal health company Merial has just launched BTVPUR AlSap 8, the latest product in its range of bluetongue vaccines.

The vaccine is an inactivated liquid form containing purified Bluetongue Virus Serotype 8 antigen in aluminium hydroxide. The vaccine is designed to immunise cows and sheep against the bluetongue serotype that is prevalent in the UK.

The vaccine is being made available in 100ml bottles. In cattle there are two 1 ml injections, 1 month apart from 3 months of age.

Animals should be revaccinated at least 2 weeks before each risk period.
