Subdued demand holds China methionine prices weak
Prices of methionine were stable to lower during the week ending July 25.
Prices of egg, which usually strengthen during summer, failed to pick up significantly this year due to China's weak economy. Meanwhile, low inventories of hog and soft broiler prices continued to impede the demand for feed from these sectors. Consequently, disappointed feed millers turned cautious and kept methionine stocks low while limiting feed production for the sector.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine were in the range of RMB28-29.50/kg, lower by RMB0-0.20/kg.
