Russia's grain export estimates revised up to 20 million tonnes

Russia's Agriculture Minister has revised her original estimate of Russia's grain exports upwards to 18-20 million tonnes.

Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said Monday (Jul 25) that Russia had harvested 23 million tonnes of grain so far this year, on track to meet the official forecast of 85-90 million tonnes for the 2011 crop.

She based the estimate on the higher 90 million tonne crop figure, as well as reserves from the previous year, the ongoing harvest, and a high crop yield.

Skrynnik had previously announced a Russian grain export estimate of 18 million tonnes.
