Spain approves swine farm control programme
Spain had approved a control programme that will guarantee an effective and homogeneous application of a royal decree for the management of intensive pig farms.
This came as the country's Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, chaired the Sectorial Conference of Agriculture and Rural Development. This is the first plan of its kind that has been approved and involves inspecting pig farms to verify compliance with requirements that led to their authorisation. It is configured as a coordination mechanism with the autonomous communities, which are the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with these regulations in their respective territories.
The aim of the Spanish agriculture ministry is to complete the control programme with the drafting of guidance documents to facilitate the inspection process.
