Russia's new crop wheat meets Egypt's expectations

With regards to the quality of Russian new crop wheat, Egypt's main state wheat buyer was satisfied and saw no impediments to Russian participation in future purchase tenders.

The new contracted shipment period starts on August 1 and Nomani Nomani, vice chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), expects the grain to reach Egypt safely, with reassurance from the Russian side.

Nomani headed a delegation which came to Russia to check that the quality of Russian wheat met Egypt's specifications.

In addition to Moscow, the delegation visited grain terminals and grain inspection laboratories in the southern Russian cities of Rostov and Novorossiisk.

Nomani was pleased with the organisation of the process the Russian side demonstrated in terms of logistics, quality inspection and analysis.

Nomani said GASC was also examining the possibility of readmitting Ukrainian and Romanian wheat to the list of approved origins.

Egypt, traditionally Russia's biggest grain buyer, bought Russian wheat in July for the first time in nearly a year following Moscow's return to the world export market.
