Ukrainian dairy industry rebounds

Ukrainian dairy products market's growth from Janaury-May was 1% compared with the same period last year, indicating that the market is rebounding slowly, according to Marianna Hlotovam, director for marketing and sales of Terra Food.

The market decreased by 3% in 2010. From January-May 2010, there was a declination of minus 6%. Thus, when comparing five months to five months of last year, the growth tallied at 1% which shows that full cream market is recovering slowly, she added.

According to experts, Ukrainian milk output is approximately 11.7 million litres and full cream milk makes up three million litres of the output. From these three million litres, 507,000 litres are packaged milk and it is usually drunk without treatment, Hlotovam said.
