Vermont, US offers grants to expand meat processing
The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets has established a US$50,000 grant programme for poultry and meat producers, in an effort to increase meat and poultry slaughter and processing capacity within the US state.
The Meat Processing Capacity Expansion Grant Programme will provide matching grants for capital investments with the goal of supporting poultry and meat processors and producers, creating jobs and enhancing Vermont's livestock industry.
Eligible businesses must be primarily involved in the processing of poultry or meat products, provide services to more than five farm businesses, be located or preferably headquartered in Vermont, and be licensed for commercial or custom use. Participants must also be in good standing with the Agency of Agriculture regarding regulatory requirements and penalties.
Grants may be put toward construction costs, materials and equipment, wastewater system improvements, and other capital improvements.
