Russia will harvest this year 85 million tonnes of grain and can export at least 12.7 million tonnes, the agriculture ministry announced Wednesday (July 23).

The ministry said of the total grain harvest, 33 million tonnes would be used for animal feed, 21 million tonnes for milling, 4 million tonnes for industrial processing, 12 million tonnes by farmers for their own needs, including for seeding, and about 1 million tonnes would be lost in transportation and storage, while the rest can be used for export.

The ministry also said the amount of grain remaining from the previous marketing year, which ended June 30, was 9.3 million tonnes, which Russia could also be used for export.
