China-based Fenchem has introduced AstaSuperTM, a natural astaxanthin feed product.

Astaxanthin is best known for its commercial use in the aquaculture and poultry industries. Fish farmers use it to provide the pinkish-red colour to salmon, trout and crustaceans such as crabs, krill and shrimp. Poultry breeders add it to feed for egg yolk and skin colour enhancement. The ruddy pigmentation is considered an important consumer criterion of quality.

Haematococcus pluvialis is the natural source of astaxanthin. Fenchem's AstaSuper contains Haematococcus pluvialis powder which is not cell-broken and contains 1.5-3.5% of astaxanthin. AstaSuper has been approved for Novel Foods.

The Haematococcus pluvialis powder also provides protein, minerals and vitamins, and will enhance health, reproduction, and overall performance in fish, poultry and other livestock.
