China's TongWei invests US $10 million in Vietnamese aquafeed mill

Chinese feed manufacturer TongWei is adding to its feed production capacity by adding a new facility in the Tien Giang province of Vietnam.

The new facility would produce 300,000 tonnes of aquafeed per annum and provide 250 local jobs.

The plant is TongWei's second aquafeed investment in the Mekong Delta.

The company invested US$3 million in an aquafeed mill in Quang Nam province in April this year, under the name of Yuehua Aquaculture Feeds. Covering an area of 40,000 square meters, the facility was a joint venture between TongWei and Huangdong Hengxin Group. Tongwei announced back in April that it would launch three more manufacturing companies in Vietnam, each with investments more than US$5 million.

Tongwei is one of China's largest feed producers, selling more than 1.2 million tonnes of feed in 2004.
