EU soft wheat export permits increase

In the week that ended July 21, EU licenses to export soft wheat rose 236,000 tonnes, according to EU data on Thursday (Jul 21).

This takes total EU wheat exports, three weeks into the 2011-12 marketing year, to 595,000 tonnes, down 11% from 670,000 tonnes over the same period in the previous year.

EU total grain exports increased 430,000 on the week to 942,000 tonnes for the year so far compared with 1.14 million tonnes over the same period the previous year.

EU wheat imports, three weeks into the marketing year, increased 837,000 tonnes on the week to 2.15 million tonnes, compared with 71,000 tonnes over the same period the previous year.

Total grain imports to date are 2.48 million tonnes compared with just 231,000 tonnes in the previous year.
