Brazil eyes resumption of meat exports to Chile
A mission from Brazil's Agriculture Ministry will meet Chilean authorities in Santiago to negotiate resuming exports of Brazilian meat to Chile.
The Brazilian officials will ask Chile to resume imports of meat from 11 Brazilian states recognised by the OIE as foot-and-mouth disease free with vaccination.
In late June, Chile recognised southern Brazilian state Santa Catarina as foot-and-mouth disease free without vaccination, allowing possible imports from Brazilian meatpackers inspected and certified by Chilean inspectors. Chile has also authorised chicken imports from 12 Brazilian producers.
