Russian meat, poultry output rise 3.8% for H1 2011

 

 

The meat and poultry production of Russia increased 3.8% to 4.6 million tonnes in the first six months of the year as against the previous year, the Federal State Statistics Service said.

 

The animal herd included 21.1 million head of cattle, down 2.5%, the agency said. The number of cows dropped 1.1% to 9 million, it said.

 

The pig population was little changed at 18.6 million, and sheep and goats totalled 25.4 million, up 2.6%. The meat and poultry output includes bones and skin.
