US beef sales now available online in South Korea

US beef imports are recently made available online in South Korea after shopping mall Jini Smart teamed up with local beef importer A-Meat and is now selling US beef through its web site.

Im Seong-sil, manager at Jini Smart, said there has been a big crowd of customers buying US beef imports from butchers and other retailers so the company expects people who want to buy online as well.

The beef sold online will be available at wholesale prices, with beef used for soup priced at US$6.50 per kilogramme and beef used for barbeque costing US$8.90 per kilogramme.

Many online shopping malls, however, say that it might be too early to sell US beef online considering consumers are still hostile toward US beef.
