Ukraine pig population up 1.3 percent in June
  
  

In June 2008, Ukraine's pig population rose 1.3 percent or 86,200 heads from May 2008 to 6.762 million heads, according to the State Statistics Committee.

 

Private farms saw a population growth of 1.5 percent or 58,700 heads to 4.1 million heads, while specialised farms population increased 1.1 percent or 27,500 heads to 2.6 million heads.

 

Compared with July 1, 2007, pig population fell 19.3 percent or 1.62 million heads.

 

On an on-year basis, pig population in specialised farms dropped 21.1 percent or 709,500 heads while private farms population declined 18.1 percent or 909,200 heads.
