Vietnam to tame feed costs with new policies
A recent meeting of Vietnam's ministries led by the deputy minister of agriculture sought ways to stabilise feed costs which are propelled by the country's over-dependence on imported materials.
At the meeting, held in Hanoi on July 10, enterprises suggested that animal feed should be added in the important and essential commodities list so that they could enjoy the State's credit policy; the value added tax for such materials as corn, soy and cassava should be abrogated; import tax on some materials for animal feed production should be cut.
The agriculture minister affirmed that materials for animal feed production would still be imported in the succeeding months, but he requested relevant agencies to focus on improving import procedures.
Furthermore, the ministry will also organise production and supply and control quality of animal feed so as to ensure price stability in Vietnam.
