Ukraine's grain harvest reaches 4.5 million tonnes
From 1.5 million hectares of cultivation space, Ukraine had harvested 4.5 million tonnes of grains, at a yield of 30.8kg / hectare compared to 29.6kg / hectare in 2014, according to a July 10 announcement by the country's Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
For wheat, 1.9 million tonnes of grain were threshed from an area of 579,000 hectares. Yield was recorded at a higher 33.1 kg / hectares compared to 31.2kg / hectares last year.
For winter rapeseed, 304,000 tonnes of seeds were threshed from an area of 146,000 hectares. Yield was recorded at a higher 20.8kg / hectares compared to 19kg / hectares last year.
This year's Ukrainian grain yield could reach around 59 million tonnes which will fulfill domestic needs.
