Ukraine's economy ministry predicts 2012 gross grain yield
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine forecasts gross grain yield of 51 million tonnes in 2012.
The meeting has introduced a draft national programme of economic and social development in 2012.
Implementation of the measures for developing agro-industrial complex shall boost gross agricultural output by 5.7%, according to the programme.
In particular, plant growing output is expected to grow by 6.9% through a 12.8% increase in grain yield to 51 million tonnes (compared with the projected 45.2 million tonnes of grain harvest in 2011).
Livestock production is anticipated to jump by 4% due to a 5.9% increase in livestock and poultry breeding in live weight (to 3.23 million tonnes), milk production by 1.8% (to 11.5 million tonnes), and eggs by 1.2% (to 17.4 billion items).
Earlier, the draft national programme of economic and social development in 2012 envisages 6.5% GDP growth and 7.9% inflation.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine predicts grain harvest of 45 million tonnes in 2011.
