Indonesia lifts ban on US poultry imports
Indonesia has retracted its ban on US poultry imports on Friday (July 11, 2008).
Indonesia banned US poultry imports on July 1 due to reports that chickens in Arkansas were infected by bird flu.
The ban was removed after the US clarified matters regarding the outbreak control and gave assurances that its products are safe for consumption, according to Tjeppy Soedjana, director-general of livestock at the Agriculture Ministry.
Indonesia also lifted its short-lived ban on New Zealand beef imports on Friday.
