Ukraine expects 20-million tonne grain export

Ukraine is likely to export 20 million tonnes of grain, including nine million tonnes of wheat between July 2011 and June 2012, according to Economic Development and Trade Minister Andrey Klyuev.

Ukraine's grain export in the 2010-2011 marketing year fell to 12.1 million tonnes from 21.2 million tonnes in the previous marketing year because crops were damaged by drought and the government was forced to impose limitations on the export of grain.

Wheat exports from 2010-2011 totalled four million tonnes.

The agriculture ministry has pegged this year's grain harvest at 45 million tonnes compared to 39.3 million tonnes in 2010.
