Australia receives no application for cattle exports to Indonesia

The Australian Federal Government said no exporter has requested for permit to ship cattle to Indonesia currently.

As of midday on Tuesday (Jul 12), the Federal Agriculture Minister's office said no applications had been received.

Last Wednesday (Jul 6), the government lifted a one-month old ban on live cattle exports to Indonesia.

On lifting the ban, exporters are required to meet new standards before being allowed to ship cattle.

Exporters will only be issued with a permit to export after they have applied for a notice of intent to export, and prove that they can meet the new conditions.

These are traceability from paddock to abattoir, transparency of the supply chain and independent auditing of the supply chain.

Export permit applications are expected to be submitted to the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry later this week.
