Ukraine's Crimea harvests one million tonnes of grain
Crimean farmers in southern Ukraine harvested the first million tonnes of grain in 2011, with an average yield of 30 US cent per hectare, the press office of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea reported.
Last year, the autonomy harvested 1.2 million tonnes of grain.
A total of 1.9-2 million tonnes of grain is expected to be harvested in the Crimea by the end of the campaign.
As of July 11 this year, the autonomy harvested 336.6 thousand ha (58.7% of the forecast thousand 573.3 ha) of early grain and oil crops, and threshed 1.011 million tonnes of grain with an average yield of 30.1 cent per hectare.
As of July 11, Ukraine harvested 5.6 million tonnes of grain.
