Bulgaria's 2011 grain balance safe

Bulgaria's grain balance for the current year has been secured, according to the country's Farming Ministry.

"Bulgaria needs 1.5 million tonnes of grain in contrast to two million tonnes that have already been collected," the ministry said on Sunday (Jul 10).

So far the country has harvested 70% of the barley area and about 50% of the wheat area, Farming Minister Miroslav Naidenov said.

The quality of the grain crop is better than last year's, Naidenov added.
