Australian wheat inventories from Jan-May hit 17.2 million tonnes

Australian bulk grain handlers, growers and users stored 17.2 million tonnes of wheat grain by the end of May 2011.

Wheat grain stored by bulk grain handlers at the end of May 2011 was 15.3 million tonnes, of which 8.4 million tonnes (55%) was graded for milling and 6.9 million tonnes (45%) graded for feed.

Wheat grain growers and users stored 1.9 million tonnes of wheat grain at the end of May 2011, which was a decrease of 453,000 tonnes from April 2011. Despite the wet weather and flooding this year's total was 268,000 tonnes more than in May 2010.
