Bulgaria gathers over 25% of wheat crop area

 

 

Bulgaria has harvested over 25% of the wheat-sown area, whereas it is starting the harvest in the northern municipality of Ivanovo, district of Ruse, stated Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Svetlana Boyanova.

 

She added that 54% of the areas planted with wheat in the municipality of Ruse had been harvested. It is followed by the municipality of Pleven (40%) and the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo (38%).

 

The average yield is 407 kg/decare, with the lowest one being in the district of Sofia (170 kg) and the highest one in Pleven (470 kg/decare).

 

Up to now one million tonnes of wheat has been harvested and the expected amount is over four million tonnes by the end of the campaign.

 

As to barley, 520 million tonnes have been harvested so far, which is 80% of all areas planted with barley. The average yield is 352 kg, with the highest one being in Dobrich and Silistra.
