India's June soymeal exports more than tripled from last year
India's June soymeal exports rose to 241,518 tonnes from 64,098 metric tonnes a year earlier, an increase of 276.79 percent, according to the Soybean Processors Association of India.
Exports in the past three months have crossed the million-tonne mark to reach 1.09 million, compared to 417,562 tonnes during the same period last year.
So far in the marketing year that began October 2007, exports have grown 36 percent on-year to 4.3 million tonnes.
During this period, Vietnam's import of Indian soymeal rose 31.5 percent to 293,300 tonnes while Japan more than doubled its Indian soymeal imports to 176,067 tonnes from 72,500 tonnes, a year earlier.
Rising exports have also prompted the Indian government to ban corn exports last week.
