Russia's meat imports up 15% in January-May
Russia's meat imports increased 15% on the year to 493,600 tonnes worth US$1.718 billion in January-May, the Federal Customs Service said Thursday (Jul 7).
Poultry imports rose 23.3% on the year to 117,500 tonnes in January-May, or 15.8% on the year to $162.2 million in monetary terms.
Fish imports amounted to 286,900 tonnes worth US$745.6 million in January-May, compared to 374,900 tonnes worth US$672.5 million in the same period a year earlier.
Almost all meat was imported from countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
In 2010, Russia's meat imports fell 2.5% on the year to 1.3 million tonnes, the service said earlier.
