Mekom fined by Bulgaria's anti-trust regulator

Bulgaria's anti-trust regulator fined local meat producer Mekom some BGN330,560 (US$242,542) for distributing a product that imitates that of a competitor.

The Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) decided that the name and packaging design of a type of salami produced by Mekom resembles closely that of a competing product on the market, CPC said in a statement on Thursday (Jul 7).

Mekom, whose production capacities are located in the northeastern town of Silistra, on the Danube river, went public in March 2008. Its stock last traded on the Sofia Bourse on Wednesday (Jul 6), closing 8.01% higher at 0.58 (US$0.43) in a volume of 1,000 shares.
